Shop Spotlight: Perch

Hi there! I'm Jesse, the blogging girl
behind Just Flew The Coop. On my blog, I talk about all kinds of things like decorating, fashion and beauty, do-it-yourself projects, and my adventures in life. I'm a recent college grad (woohoo!) and a new business owner.

I am also a painter and an art history lover. I have
an ah-mazing boyfriend and a beloved cat named Finally (because I finally got a cat 15 years ago...). I love coffee, interior design, and long walks on
the beach.... Wait a minute. This is starting to sound too much like a personal dating ad! So, enough about me!

Danielle recently asked me if I would
be interested in doing a guest post while she is taking a blogging break. 

My answer? Oh YEAH! This is such a great experience to get to guest post on her incredible blog. I just want to take a second to say thank you, thank you, thank you to Danielle! Her request came at the perfect time seeing
as how I have a lot of new and exciting things going on in my life
and on my blog. 

Last month (July) I opened my very own online home décor
boutique, Perch. I have loved every second of establishing and running this fun
business! From choosing the font on the website to setting up shopping carts and selecting items to sell, I have enjoyed the whole process of setting up Perch! The
merchandise on Perch is fun, fresh, really affordable and, of course, always
trendy! I noticed during my four years of decorating numerous dorm rooms and apartments during college that I always had a really hard time finding unique and trendy home décor that fit my lifetsyle, taste, and small budget. 

I rented my very first apartment last year and FINALLY got the chance to decorate without all the dorm room restrictions. I'm positive that I drove my roommate, boyfriend, and parents completely crazy with all my obsessive planning. When I get really excited about things, I get a little obsessed and weird, especially with interior design.  But what can I say?  I go weak in the knees for things like paint colors, fabrics, and ceramic accessories. In fact, just talking about it is making me feel a wave of excitement.

As I decorated my first apartment bedroom, I longed to find a one-stop boutique shop where I could find pretty art, cute accessories, and colorful pillows. Sadly, that type of wonderful place was nowhere to be found, so I just went on with life and did what I could to make
my bedroom pretty!

I framed and matted my own artwork and posters that I had collected over time, made my own pillows, and reused old, hand me down furniture. I painted the walls a warm brown color that looked amazing contrasted with the white molding and my colorful décor.

I have since moved out of this room, but it will always be my favorite! My experience decorating this room and helping my friends with theirs is one of the main reasons that I developed the idea to start my own home décor business and open Perch! After graduating this past May, I immediately got to work making my dream of owning an online home
décor shop come to life! I put pen to paper... er... mouse to computer screen and launched the shop of my dreams.

Now, Perch has been open for almost a full month and is gaining more and more loyal customers everyday. I strive to bring the best in décor to my customers and I love to treat each and every person as if they are a dear friend! Perch is unique because so much of the
merchandise has been created by creative individuals and artists specifically for Perch customers! Perch is basically a dream come true to me and I hope that it can be for you, too, as you decorate your own space.

 I'd like to tell you about one more exciting thing! I will soon be moving into my first condo! I am doing all kinds of renovations to it before I move in including things like repainting and pulling up old flooring. There are so many fun projects that I want to tackle! Over on my blog, I am posting about every part of the redo and decorating saga. I can't wait to decorate it with Perch merch!
